As of 2023, China's population aged 60 and above has reached 296.97 million, accounting for 21.1% of the total population, with 216.76 million people aged 65 and above, representing 15.4% of the population. By the end of 2021, there were 358,000 elderly care service institutions and facilities nationwide, with 8.159 million beds. Data from March 2024 shows that China needs 6 million elderly caregivers, but there are only 500,000 actual workers in this field. The huge gap in elderly care facilities and staff is not the primary issue—the main problem is the lack of supporting technology and quality systems. The Netherlands has the world’s most advanced elderly care system, consistently ranked first in the European Health Consumer Index (EHCI). Dutch elderly care is centered on customer experience, the highest standard in the service industry. Around this customer-centric and institution sustainability focus, the Netherlands has developed a comprehensive knowledge and technology system, integrated hardware facilities, and management and quality systems. Like the Netherlands, China is a country that values human warmth, and the Dutch model, which centers on customer experience, is well-suited to Chinese culture and conditions.
According to a 2023 survey, the depression detection rate among Chinese adolescents aged 6-16 is 24.6%, with one-third of them having experienced suicidal thoughts or attempted suicide. However, there are very few psychological professionals able to assist these adolescents. Many mental health workers do not know how to connect with children or what methods, beyond conversation, can be used to provide psychological intervention for adolescents.
Given this reality, the goal of CNBA is to bring Dutch technology, knowledge, quality systems, and even hardware related to youth psychological care to China.
